The Dork Report: Week 1
The members of the Heel’s House have occasionally tossed around the idea of having a trophy made up that would reside with the league champion each year. The idea has never really gotten too far since the only two members who have actively petitioned for it are the only two members to ever win the league. That would be myself (1-time champion) and my buddy, Scott (champion every other year of the league’s existence). It’s been at least 2 years since I’ve beaten Scott head-to-head, and for the second year in a row, he was my Week 1 match-up.
My QB, Drew Brees came through big putting up 55 points, but for some reason didn’t look in the direction of my WR1, Marques Colston who posted a hugely disappointing 5 points. His poor outing didn’t hurt me much as Edge posted solid numbers proving to be the correct choice in my RB2-by-committee approach as Deuce McAllister and Fred Taylor did nothing. Receivers Calvin Johnson aka Megatron and Anquan Boldin put up strong numbers, making up for Colston, and in the late game LDT still gave me 13 points in a below average performance (for him).
In the end, the Elvis Impersonators cruised to a fairly easy 144-119 victory over the usual powerhouse Tarholz Bilton’s Boys. The 144 points was the third most scored in the league this week, so I’m feeling pretty good early on. Next up: Emerson Anne Turner’s Dad.
