The Dork Report: Week 2

I didn’t get to watch much football Sunday afternoon, let alone check in on the fantasy stats, but was relieved to find once I sat down at my computer that the Elvis Impersonators were cruising right along with out me.  In fact, at the time the “Projected Total” for my opponent was about 50 points behind my current score.  So at 2-0, the Impersonators sit atop the division and are one of two undefeated teams.

Last week’s poor performance by Marques Colston turned out to be the result of a thumb injury that will keep him out for 4-6 weeks, but with my WR depth I barely missed him this week.  Calvin Johnson and Anquan Boldin both put up huge numbers and are the reason I won.  They both seem to be headed towards great seasons, and when Colston is healthy, look out!  Brees put up a solid score at QB, and my TE put up a surprisingly large number.  Tony Scheffler put up 22 points…I’m usually thrilled if I can get 10 our of a TE.

There is cause for concern on the RB front, with LDT looking gimpy and not putting up 2nd overall type numbers, and my 3-headed-washed-up-RB2-by-committee is doing nothing.  The Receivers are picking up the slack right now, and I’m sure LDT will do well in the long run, but RB2 will need to be addressed at some point later in the season.

Next up: Hoss, whose curious decision to draft Tom Brady and Peyton Manning in the first 2 rounds paid off in that he has a top QB even though his #1 pick is out for the season, but left him painfully thin at all other positions.
